Minecraft: Pocket Edition now Available on IOS in new Zealand, as Universal App
MineCon 2011, the meatspace-focused event for everything Minecraft will not begin on Friday, but that hasn't stopped some major announcements from coming out earlier. After a lengthy period of exclusivity on Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play mobile phone, Minecraft: Pocket Edition finally moved to the broader Android Marketplace last month. While those were certainly better (and more dense) pastures, today's move to the iPhone and iPad should open up a wider world of possibilities for the portable sandbox.
It's available today on the New Zealand iTunes App Store as a Universal app, meaning one purchase can be used on both iPhone and iPad hardware, Minecraft: Pocket Edition should be available in European and North American stores later today.
